LGBT, or GLBT, is an initialism that represents lesbian, gay, androgynous, and transgender. Being used since the 1990s, the term is an adjustment of the initialism LGB, which was utilized to supplant the term gay in reference to the LGBT people group starting in the mid-to-late 1980s.
